Col (Pol) Drs Andreas Sumary Sugianto [Sugianto Andreas]

Officer in national police headquarters without a known job description

Andreas Sugianto spent 1999 in East Timor as an assistant to MajGen Zacky Anwar Makarim. Together with BrigGen Glenny Kairupan, they were the key team that managed the militia program under instructions from Jakarta.[1] East Timorese sources confirm to us that Sugianto was always 'on standby' in Dili and in attendance at meetings.[2]

As East Timor police chief (Kapolwil) in 1994-96 he had worked with two East Timor military commanders (danrem) whose names also occur in the present database: Mahidin Simbolon and then Kiki Syahnakri. Glenny Kairupan was a deputy military commander (wadanrem) there at the time. Sugianto would have learned to know all three well.

After the 1994-96 tour of duty he became Regional Police Inspector (Irpolda) based in Jakarta, and did not appear in the public eye again.[3]
