In their first indictment for crimes against humanity of a sexual nature, Untaet prosecutors in February 2001 charged five men (militia leaders, civil servants and a military officer) from Lolotoe sub-district, south of Maliana. At the heart of the case is the maintenance of a 'rape house' in Lolotoe, where three women suspected of being related to Falintil fighters were abused repeatedly over the months May till July 1999. Among the 27 charges laid against the five is murder.
